Timber
and Construction
- The
furniture featured in the Rustic Showroom is solid
hardwood throughout. No plywood or other materials
are used.
- Traditional
construction methods are used with a focus on producing
a piece of furniture that will be strong and give
good service.
- Each
piece is largely handmade, giving a unique flavour
to individual items.
- The
timber quality is mixed grades and therefore some
minor natural blemishes may be included. These will
not affect the overall performance of the furniture.
Finishing
- The
finish used is a natural shellac sealer. Whilst less
durable than the production finishes used on our Reproduction
Furniture it is very serviceable and will give many
years of protection to the timber.
- This
shellac finish is a good basis for a natural wax to
be applied on top of, and we recommend this.
- A
variety of colours is available. Please see our
Finishes Page
- If
you have a particular colour you would like us to
use, which we don't normally do, we can almost certainly
match it, and we'll submit samples for your approval.
Handles
And Hardware
- Generally
Solid Brass is used for all handles and hinges
- Cast
Iron may be used on some pieces where the style warrants
it
- If
you have a particular preference for hardware you
would like used we can probably source and fit it
for you.
